Darley Youth Club - working group set up to if possible re-establish

Dear all

There are various groups in the village who are keen on re-establishing a youth club for children of the village (and Dale) 11-16.  These groups include the Parish Council, Darley Playing Fields Assocation, Christ Church (and Christ Church Community Centre), Methodist Church and Nidderdale Safer Neighbourhood Group.  We met on Monday 14 June to coordinate our efforts and it was agreed to have one liaison with North Yorkshire County Council youth services - who are also keen to build on the success in re-establishing a Pateley Bridge Youth Club with additional provision in Nidderdale.  It was agreed that Pete Flynn would act as this liaison and work towards a) getting the NYCC Youth battle bus to set up for a six week period in the Autumn a trial youth club to assess initial interest and b) that the Darley pavilion at the playing fields would be a very good location - the trustees already working on plans to get the pavilion DDA complaint and able to meet NYCC's significant building code requirements.

A present there is an interregnum in youth workers at NYCC - with the new worker starting end July.  So the group will be updated as to progress as soon as possible thereafter.

If any other group or person has any interest in getting involved (we will most likely need volunteers to help run the club if and when it gets going), please contact Pete on 781 186/p@peteflynn.com.
